Redwood Eagles

Avon Lake's Redwood Eagles offer a great opportunity for bird watchers and photographers alike. Since 2015, the adult pairing has successfully raised nine eaglets, and locals and dedicated followers look forward every year to the start of "eagle season".

Eagles become sexually mature after five

years, and develop the white head and tail.

They keep the same partner for life.

Eagles usually have two chicks per season and they stay in the nest until they are as big as the parents.

EAGLES NEST (after 2 years)

EAGLES USUALLY COME BACK TO THE SAME NEST EVERY YEAR.  THEY ARE CONTINUOUSLY ADDING NESTING MATERIAL AND STRUCTURAL STICKS INTO IT THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.  OLDER NESTS CAN WEIGH A HALF TON OR MORE.
